Writing

My writing interests include creative nonfiction, journalism, and fiction, with my personal essays hosted on my Substack, Sapphonova, and my fiction favouring novels. In creative nonfiction, I explore how narrative interweaves with science. In fiction, I write in the space where science fiction meets fantasy, especially exploring different mechanics to structure story. Identity, health, and location play major roles within my writing.

I’m in the process of drafting a serial project involving cats, quantum mechanics, and gravity, so stay tuned.

Journalism

Before beginning my PhD, I wrote extensively for my undergraduate’s newspaper (Ursinus College’s The Grizzly) writing around 65 articles during my time there, serving as the features editor for two years, and leading the newspaper as the Editor-in-Chief my senior year. I won the college’s Andrew Rifkin Award for investigative journalism twice. I wrote articles on everything from art museum openings to theatre productions and interviews with mayoral candidates and college sports teams.

That lead me to writing two articles for the American Institute of Physics’ student magazine, The SPS Observer, and representing the magazine as a press reporter at the American Astronomical Society’s 243rd Meeting in New Orleans. There I attended press conferences and interviewed everyone ranging from institution leaders to undergraduates attending their first conference.

Physics from the Ground Up

I co-organize Physics from the Ground Up, a public lecture series run by UNC Physics and Astronomy grad students, and I gave a talk in October 2025 entitled “Frankenphysics: An Exploration in the Physics Inspiring Frankenstein and how Frankenstein Inspires Science.” I plan to give this talk again this October at a local library and/or bookstore.
